Published: Jan 26, 2009 - 09:51 PM

The NTTS (New Techniques and Technologies for Statistics) seminar is an international scientific conference on the impact of new technologies on statistical collection, production and dissemination systems. The conference is intended to stimulate and facilitate the preparation of new innovative projects for the 7th Framework Programme for Research and Development, to encourage co-operation and possible building of consortia by researchers with the aim of enhancing the quality and usefulness of official statistics.

The objectives are to have an overview of the methodological and technological developments in statistics, to develop and promote new research orientations, to disseminate and demonstrate state-of-the-art results in statistics. The idea is also to put together NSIs and researchers in order to inform each other of the different needs for research as well as already available research results coming from 5th Framework Programme for Research and Development (FP5), FP6 and current activities in FP7 projects.

A last objective of such a conference would be to start establishing a research agenda for statistics for the next 5 to 10 years in order to prepare discussions for the next phase of FP7 work programmes definition and it possible for FP8.
