The DEPS Department for studies, strategic forsight and statistics forms part of the national official statistics system. It is the Ministry of Culture and Communication’s service for cultural socio-economic studies and its Ministerial statistics service

THEATRE

• 471 performances at theParis National Opera and784,000 spectators, of whom391,000 for opera and326,000 for ballet.
• 2,400 concerts performedby the 26 permanentorchestras of the FrenchOrchestra Association.
• 19 National DanceCentres; 1,250 performancesand 562,000 entries.
• 230 dance companiessubsidised by the Ministry ofCulture and Communication.
• 34,100 performances and16 million entries to payingpop music concerts.

MUSIC AND DANCE

• 5 national theatres(Comédie-Française, Théâtrenational de Chaillot, de laColline, de l’Odéon et deStrasbourg); 1,533 performances and743,000 spectators in thesecompanies’ resident theatres(all shows combined).
• 39 national and regionaldrama centres; 5,262performances in residenttheatres and 3,963 touringperformances; 1,017,000paying spectators at residenttheatre.
• 69 national playhouses;1,901,000 admissions fornon-free shows.
• 105 accreditedplayhouses.
• 589 theatre groupssubsidised by the Ministry ofCulture and Communication(26 million euros).
• 17,300 performances inParis private theatres and3.4 million spectators.
