LANWest.org - a new site for performance
Published: May 05, 2008 - 11:28 PM
www.lanwest.org A one-stop video outlet for performance, contemporary theatre, and live art made in the North West of England. Selected and endorsed by the region’s key promoters, LANWest.org offers an online showcase of what to watch out for.LANWest (Live Art North West) is a network of regional (and beyond) promoters and producers with an interest in live art and contemporary performance. Members are: Alsager Arts Centre, greenroom, hÅb, Leeds Met Studio and Gallery, Matrix Art Projects, Nuffield Theatre, The Bluecoat and University of Central Lancashire
As part of a three year distribution project, funded by Arts Council England, North West, through the National Lottery, LANWest has been exploring a key shared agenda: the ‘what next?‘ question: the need to offer progression to the wealth of new work produced in the region, both in terms of regional supported touring of contextualised early career work (In Transit) and the support of key work to break free of the emergent regional label and to find its place on the national circuit.
As a tool for facilitating work to move on from the emergent label, we have developed www.lanwest.org, a unique collaboration between the region’s promoters and producers, to bring their recommendations and endorsement to the work displayed.
LANWest.org aims be a continuously-updating online outlet and archive for regional work - with video materials ranging from short clips to entire shows, photo slideshows, alongside technical and marketing information.
Please do have a look around the site and add it to your bookmarks.
