Under the direction of Sergey Ostrenko. April 20-25, 2008 , Prague (Czech Republic) The Lab is open to performers from different parts of the world interested to enrich the professional arsenal with new effective practical methods and devices, to explore the contemporary aesthetics in communication with a spectator and to reconsider the cooperation principles in a creative group.PARTICIPANTS
Actors of physical, dramatic, musical and dance theatres, dancers, choreographers, directors, stage designers, playwrights, script writers.
The Laboratory is focused on practical exploration of group theatre training as the foundation of the coherent rehearsal process and the creative atmosphere on the way to the performance. Practical sessions develop in the form of various exercises progressing from simple to complicated. Every day is developing the previous steps and setting advanced creative tasks. Through the system of consecutive bodily exercises the group is growing common language, sound creative activity and cohesion. Performer’s body, the most ancient instrument, helps to build understanding in a wonderful way beyond intellectual processes.
The atmosphere of Ostrenko group training is conducive to exploration, demands alert involvement and personal investment in the process. It is a nurturing and challenging environment and a safe place within which to take creative risks. Gradually the group is proceeding to group improvisations and structures. Participants develop the most interesting ideas and images from improvisational etudes, scenarios and sketches. This process is burning and flexible. Every moment more and more creative discoveries and solutions blaze up.
