‘Surtitles’ are the projection of the translation, or the script of the play, above the stage onto a screen. They allow for (in our case) total understanding of a foreign language play, or otherwise to enable the deaf and hard of hearing to understand a performance. We have a dedicated team of surtitlers who project the text in perfect synchronisation with the play.
WHERE ARE THE SURTITLES PROJECTED IN THE THEATRE?
The surtitles are projected above the stage onto a screen in synchronisation with the performance. When you buy your tickets through Theatre in Paris, we guarantee seats with a good view of the surtitles.
DOES EVERY PERFORMANCE INCLUDE SURTITLES?
No, the only way to guarantee that the performance you book to see will have English surtitles is to book through Theatre in Paris. The theatres themselves don’t know in advance which performances will have surtitles.
WHICH LANGUAGES ARE THE SURTITLES AVAILABLE IN?
For all plays advertised on our website, English is the only language currently available. However, we would like to incorporate more languages into our service, so stay tuned!
