[3] IUGTE has announced the
competition for four theatre directors for participation in the project “Shakespeare. Four Sketches”. This is the practical course -production of the performance at Donetsk Russian State Repertory Theatre of the Young Spectator (Ukraine).
The course is organized by IUGTE with the support of the Department of Culture of Donetsk Region Administration (Ukraine).The course programme is designed as the intensive practical training process of mounting the performance under the artistic direction of
Sergei Ostrenko. The organizers provide the rehearsal space, technical and informational support and other elements necessary for the performance creation process. The working languages are English and Russian. Translators will be provided.
The course is open to theatre directors from different countries working in various creative genres, techniques and styles.
There are only four places available
on a competitive basis.
Participants who successfully complete the course receive the Certificate of IUGTE.
COURSE STRUCTURE
The course includes four phases of work under the direction of Sergei Ostrenko:
two phases of distance work by email and
two phases of practical work on-site in Ukraine.
First Phase: February 1st – March 1st
Distance work by email correspondence.
The directors analyse the material and compose the performance.
Second Phase: March 1st – April 1st
Distance work by email correspondence.
The directors create the detailed description of the performance direction strategy, plan of rehearsals, method of work with the actors and compose the artistic space of the performance.
Third Phase: May 19th - June 9th
Practical phase on-site in Ukraine.
Four directors continue practical creative process on-site at Donetsk Theatre of the Young Spectator: from meeting with the actors to presenting the creative results at the exam to the Artistic Board. As a result the directors create four “pieces”.
Fourth Phase: June 9th - June 22nd
Practical phase on-site in Ukraine.
Four directors continue working on the performance as the Assistant Directors to Sergei Ostrenko.
Ostrenko helps the directors to edit the four “pieces” into one complete performance in unified scenic space.
