The ITSelF Festival is organized in a biennial cycle since 2002. Each time there are around 15 schools accepted to take part in it, not only from Europe, but also from all over the world (China, Mexico, Israel, Japan, Iran, Morocco, United States, Australia, Korea, and many more).

It is an important event on the global map of theatre schools and it is addressed to young theatre makers. ITSelF Festival proves, that geographical and linguistic barriers are unimportant when theatre is involved. It aims to create one stage for the voice of young theatre artists.

The Festival is a cultural and professional exchange between young people, but also it is a platform for intergenerational exchange, as each edition of the Festival guests experienced theatre and cinema makers, and gives the opportunity to meet them.

The Festival intent is to present the best diploma performances, students’ works, and new techniques in the art of theatre. It is a platform for discussion over the new theatre ideas.

Throughout the years ITSelF Festival gained a great respect in the theatre world, not only because of the significant financial awards, but for most, thanks to its participants and the highest level of the performances they present.

During this Festival edition, Festival Director will be Prof. Andrzej Strzelecki, Rector of the Aleksander Zelwerowicz National Academy of Dramatic Art in Warsaw.
